  • I lead the strength & conditioning across our partner projects with clubs, organisations and the track & field academy. I am also responsible for the development of CSPG’s online athlete academy.

Personal

During youth sport I generalised being part of Cambridge Utd and Norwich City football development programs, competing in swim galas at club level and Jui Jitsu tournaments at club level. Being a part of sport throughout my entire youth I had to keep the physical aspect alive after injury setbacks, turning a passion for general weightlifting into a journey to competing to a national standard in powerlifting. Through wanting to better my own training and becoming fascinated with the American system for sports lead me to study strength and Conditioning at ARU. It was during this time I realised it wasn’t just how the athletes trained during strength sessions in American colleges and professional sports that Intrigued me, but how the coaches delivered those sessions, leading to the beginning of my coaching journey.

Coaching Journey

In completing my final year of studies with ARU I took on an internship with Cambridge Track & Field Academy helping sprinters and jumpers, I supported national level junior athletes with managing their workload. I later became the academy’s full-time strength & conditioning coach, administering all aspects of physical preparation and injury rehabilitation.

Taking every opportunity I could to better my skill set I volunteered helping with after school S&C sessions at ARU for a local upper school. This combined with helping deliver an S&C educational day for coaches and athletes, part of the women’s GB development rowing program, lead me to be recommended to take the lead for S&C at Cambridge University’s Jesus College Rowing Club.

Coaching Ethos

I am a big believer in movement quality and this should come first over everything, if you are unable to move right, you can’t train right. An environment I try to create is centred around educating the athlete and empowering them to problem solve.
